memo that by the choice and consent of Barth Church son and heir of Robt Church doctor of theology deceased the aforesaid Barth being under age viz age 16yrs or thereabouts Rich Harlakenden esq lord of the aforesaid manor granted custody both of the body and of all the lands of the aforesaid Barth held of this same manor to Rose Church widow mother of the aforesaid Barth until the aforesaid Barth himself should reach the age of twenty one years as it appears by a certain script in the true hand of the aforesaid Rich Harlakenden signed and h ere in court shown which the aforesaid Rose now seeks to be enrolled the tenor of which same said writing in these following english words 24.3.1624 Earls Colne and Colne Priory that I Rich Harlakenden of Earls Colne in the county of Essex esq lord of the said manor of Earls Colne and Colne Priory by the consent of Barth Church being about the age of 16yrs have granted the guardianship of the said Barth until he shall accomplish the age of twenty one years unto Rose Church widow mother of the said Barth and to receive and take to his use the profit and rents of all his lands holden of either the said manor paying to the lord such out rents as are due for the same and to give a true account to him the said Barth when he shall accomplish the age of twenty one years provided that these presents be enrolled at my next court in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand the day and year above written by me Rich Harlakenden
