it is shown by the homage that Peter Elliston before this court and after the last court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jas Nicholl instead of the bailiff in the presence of Sam Brewer and Jn Reade two customary tenants testifying according to the custom of the aforesaid manor three parcels of land and pasture called The Harrowe lying and being in Great Maplestead or elsewhere in the county of Essex one head thereof abutting upon the lane leading from Hopwell towards Alderford Mill on one part and the other head thereof abutting on a lane leading from Alderford Mill towards Great Maplestead and lying next to lands late of Math Elliston on one part now in the tenure or occupation of Edw Elliston of Sible Hedingham or his assigns to the use and behoof of Joseph Elliston the son of Joseph Elliston clerk and his heirs to whom the same said Joseph Elliston the son by Wm Harrington his deputy in this part present here in court the lord by his aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have to him and his heirs forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine as etc and by his said deputy he was admitted etc but his fealty was respited because he was under age etc and furthermore because he was under age being namely 7yrs or thereabouts therefore the custody both of the body of the aforesaid Joseph the son and of the aforesaid lands was now committed to the same said Joseph Elliston the father during the minority of the said Joseph the son who by the said Wm Harrington his deputy also in this part now made to the lord fine and was admitted etc but fealty for the aforesaid custody let it be known was respited etc
