and furthermore whereas at a court here held 1.4.1609 Ann Harlakenden one of the daughters of Thos Harlakenden gentleman was admitted tenant of the lord for herself and her heirs to one tenement or cottage with garden adjoining called Sextons Tenement lying in Earls Colne between a tenement sometime of Antho Sparrow on one part towards the west and the kings highway there called The Priory Lane towards the east one head thereof abutting upon the kings highway there towards the south and the other head thereof abutting upon a croft of land called St Mary Croft towards the north as by a roll of the aforesaid court it appears now to this court came the aforesaid Ann Harlakenden in person and in full and open court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the aforesaid steward the aforesaid tenement or cottage and other premises with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Thos Gill of Halstead tanner and his heirs and assigns forever to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have to him and his heirs forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rent of 6d per annum to be paid at the usual feast for payment within the aforesaid manor and by all other services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord for a fine
