whereas at a court here held 21.4.1636 Edw Clarke was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one parcel of meadow called Hunwickes Meadow or Bridge Meade containing by estimation 3a more or less lying in Earls Colne or White Colne upon the consideration and with this intention that the aforesaid Edw Clarke should make such surrender and legal assurances of such premises to any such person as Rich Harlakenden lord of the aforesaid manor and Godfrey Bossevile esq should limit and appoint by any writing signed with their hands and seals as by a roll of the aforesaid court it appears now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Rich Harlakenden and Godfrey Bossevile by a writing signed by their hands and sealed and bearing the date 4.5.last past before the day of this court limited and appointed the aforesaid Edw Clarke to surrender the aforesaid parcel of meadow with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Jn Jacob knight his heirs and assigns upon which came here into court the aforesaid Edw Clarke and in full and open court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his aforesaid steward the aforesaid parcel of meadow with appurtenances to the use and behoof of the said Jn Jacob his heirs and assigns forever to whom by Jn Lewis gentleman his deputy and attorney the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid parcel of meadow with appurtenances to the aforesaid Jn Jacob his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord for a fine etc
