whereas at a court here held 28.1.1642 Jas Pennock in full and open court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the aforesaid steward one field or parcel of customary land called Chippin or by whatever other name it is called containing by estimation 4a and adjoining next to the hopground called Great Chippin to the use and behoof of Jas Pennock for his lifetime and after his decease to the behoof of Margery Pennock his wife for her lifetime and after her decease to the behoof of Jas Pennock junior and his heirs forever upon the condition that if the aforesaid Jas Pennock senior in his lifetime or his assigns within one year after the decease of the said Jas Pennock senior should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Jas Pennock junior or his assigns 50li of good and legal money of England or should give to the aforesaid Jas Pennock junior any legal satisfaction by way of payment of the said 50li within the aforesaid time that then the aforesaid surrender should be void as by a roll of the aforesaid court it appears now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Jas Pennock afterwards viz .3.1642 died and that Wm Pennock is his son and heir and of the age of twenty one years and more upon which came here into court the aforesaid Margery Pennock widow and the aforesaid Jas Pennock and they gave the court intelligence and information that the aforesaid sum of money was not paid and is unpaid to this time and that no satisfaction was given to the aforesaid Jas Pennock junior by the aforesaid Jas Pennock his father or by the said Wm Pennock by way of payment of the aforesaid 50li according to the aforesaid condition and upon this they humbly sought admittance to the premises to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid field or parcel of land called Chippin or by whatever else it is known to the aforesaid Margery Pennock for her lifetime and after her decease to the aforesaid Jas Pennock junior his heirs and assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave the lord their fines
