whereas at a court here held 3.10.1643 it was shown by the homage by the account of the said steward that Jn Brown and Eliz his wife Eliz herself solely and secretly examined by the steward of the court as is the custom surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the aforesaid steward one customary cottage called The Middle House in Holstreet in Earls Colne to the use and behoof of the said Eliz for her lifetime the remainder thereof after her decease to the use of Alice Browne daughter of the said Jn for the term of twelve years from the time of the death of Eliz to be fully completed the remainder thereof to the use and behoof of Jn Hutton son of Guy Hutton and his heirs forever as by a roll of the aforesaid court it appears now at this court it was shown by the homage that afterwards viz 13.5.1644 the aforesaid Eliz died upon which came here into court the aforesaid Alice Browne and humbly sought admittance to the premises to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid cottage with appurtenances to the aforesaid Alice and her assigns for the term of twelve years from the time of the death of the said Eliz to be fully completed from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord for a fine etc
