with the appurtenances containing 3a more or less and lying in White Colne and whereas at a court held for the said manor

it was presented by the homage that the said
Thos Christmas
since the then last court that is say upon

did surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of
Wm Adams
instead of the bailiff and in the presence of
Hen Hutton
and
Rich Fisher
two customary tenants of the said manor the same witnessing the said two crofts of land with the appurtenances to the use of his last will and testament and that afterwards and before the said last recited court the said

died so seised and the said
Ann
did him survive now at this court it was presented by the homage that the said
Ann
since the last court that is to say in

died and thereupon at this court
Jn Ayling
of Pebmarsh Essex yeoman did come and show forth in court the last will and testament of the said
Thos Christmas
bearing date
2.4.1650
aforesaid the tenor whereof concerning the premises together with other lands is in these words imprimis I give and bequeath to

my well beloved wife all those my copyhold lands holden of the manor of Barwicke Hall etc and after her decease I give and bequeath to
Jas Ayling
my son in law of Pebmarsh Essex yeoman and to
Jn Ayling
his brother of the same town and county yeoman and to their heirs and assigns all my freehold messuage or tenement wherein

now dwelleth etc and all those my other crofts or parcels of copyhold land with the appurtenances containing by estimation 3a be it more or less called
Milfield
and holden of the manor of Colne Priory to be sold or conveyed by them or either of them their heirs executors administrators or assigns to any person or persons whatsoever for the best advantage within one whole year next after the decease of the said

my wife and the money that my said messuage houses lands and tenements with their and every of their appurtenances shall be sold for I will that it shall be equally divided between every one of my sons and daughters part and part alike that shall be then living as by the said last will duly proved it doth and may appear which said

did come and desired to be admitted tenant of the said two crofts or parcels of land called

to whom the lord of the said manor by his said steward did grant and deliver thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said two crofts or parcels of land with the appurtenances to the said
Jn Ayling
his heirs and assigns forever according to the effect and intent of the said last will of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services due and he gave to the lord for a fine |
