Thos Osborne and wife to Bromefield | at this court it was shown by the homage that Thos Osborne customary tenant of the aforesaid manor after the last general court viz 21.4.1662 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Adams senior instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Robt Abbott and Hen Abbott two customary tenants of the aforesaid manor according to the custom of the aforesaid manor the same testifying three crofts or parcels of land containing altogether by estimation 12a more or less late of Wm Hutt gentleman one part thereof abutting upon the king's highway leading from Earls Colne towards Coggeshall on the western part and upon a chase of Thos Hales on the southern part and upon other lands of the said Thos Hales on the eastern part and upon other lands of the said Thos Osborne late of Wm Bridge on the northern part to the use and behoof of Thos Osborne himself and Mary his wife and the heirs of their bodies legitimately procreated and in default of such issue to the use of Thos himself and his heirs forever which premises by name the two crofts of land called Bromefeilds containing by estimation 11a (sic) the said Thos Osborne took for himself and his heirs at a court here held 4.11.1657 upon which came here into court the aforesaid Thos and Mary his wife and sought admittance as tenants of the lord for the premises to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid three crofts or parcels of land with appurtenances to the aforesaid Thos and Mary and the heirs of their bodies legitimately procreated the remainder thereof to the said Thos and his heirs from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord for a fine etc |
