at a court here held 5.4.1671 Jn Carter was admitted to himself and his heirs to one parcel of land called Andrewes containing by estimation 3a more or less and also to one croft of land called Broadfield alias Bradfield containing by estimation 6a more or less on which a barn is built now at this court it is presented by the homage that the said Jn Carter 19.4.last surrendered by the rod into the lord's hands by the hands of Jn Finch instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Ralph Josselin clerk and Dan Nightingale two customary tenants of the manor the same witnessing etc the premises aforesaid with barns stables and buildings thereon built to the sole and proper use and behoof of Sam Finch of Earls Colne tailor his heirs and assigns forever and upon this the aforesaid Sam Finch present in court humbly petitioned admittance of the lord etc who by his steward delivered seisin etc and he gave the lord for fine etc and made fealty
