at a court here held 19.3.1678 Edw Abbutt was admitted for the term of his life on the surrender of Robt Abbutt his uncle the remainder to Edw Abbutt son of the said Edw for the term of his life and after the death of the survivor to the use of the first son of the body of the said Edw the son legitimately procreated and the heirs male following and for defect of issue to the use of the second son and his heirs male etc and for defect of issue to the other sons the eldest always preferred etc and for defect of any issue to the use of Thos Abbott another son of the said Edw senior for his life and after his death to the use of his first s on etc and then for defect of issue to the second and subsequent sons etc and for defect of any issue to the use of Hen Abbutt another nephew of the said Robt and the heirs and assigns of the said Hen forever to one messuage or tenement customary with a garden adjoining and two crofts of land containing by estimation 2a lying in Church Street in Earls Colne now at this court it appeared that the said Edw Abbutt senior died after the last court and that the said Thos died before without issue and that Hen Abbott is the eldest son of the said Hen the son upon which came Edw Abbutt and was admitted tenant etc to have the said lands for life to remain as aforesaid and gave fine etc
