at a court held 31.5.1714 Eliz Smith widow was admitted to a customary messuage called Clarkes and five crofts or parcels of land lying on the backside of the said messuage and to another croft of land called Catscroft and also to a field once in two parts divided called Tennacres and to two parcels of land called Readings and to one croft of land called Stonebridge Croft and also to a croft called Mordens containing 1a2r and also to a certain parcel of customary land lying on the west part of Brockhole once Jn Bird's and also to a certain croft called Whitecroft and also to another parcel of land called Beanfield Wellfield and Bambles and a certain croft called Mundons Croft and another croft called Murdons and a garden called Murdens and another garden called Bugs Garden and another parcel of pasture in two pieces enclosed upon parcel of which a tile kilne once stood and also to one parcel of land with a garden or grove adjoining called Sturpitts and a certain tenement with garden adjoining called Doddingpole Hoe and to another tenement called Wanstaves and another croft called Howletts and another croft of land with an aldercarr called Smiths and other lands once Jn Sexton's and another tenement once Rich Hoe's and a pasture on Le Hoe once Jn Wallis and to another garden called Hedges Garden with a way lying between lands once of the earl of Oxford called Bridgemans and a croft of land called Taynter Croft and also to one croft called Thredgolds alias Glaziers once Rich Nevill's gentleman and also to a croft of land called Doddingpole Hoe and also to a croft called Sawers with appurtenances containing 4a and also to all the customary lands tenements and hereditaments then late of Jn Josselin deceased except lands and tenements to which Jane Josselin widow mother of the said Jn was admitted for her lifetime and after at the same court the said Eliz surrendered all and singular her customary lands etc to the use of her last will now at this court it appeared that the said Eliz died after the last court so seised upon which came Gilb Smith one of the sons of the said Eliz who showed her last will dated 23.11.1714 the tenor concerning the premises in the following words item I give and devise all that my copyhold messuage farm and lands and tenements thereunto belonging with their and every of their appurtenances situate lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid and now in the occupation of Ann Raven widow or her assigns and holden of the several manors of Earls Colne and Colne Priory lately purchased of my late brother Jn Josselin deceased to be sold by my executor herein after named with all convenient speed after my decease and I do hereby authorise and empower my said executor to sell the same and lastly I do nominate and appoint my said son Gilb Smith sole executor of this my last will and testament as shown etc and upon this the said Gilb was admitted etc and gave fine etc
