at a court held 5.4.1692 Jn Newton was admitted to one messuage lately built and 20a of land called Sandhills then in the occupation of the said Jn Newton and at a court held 24.3.1695 the said Jn was admitted to 3p of waste adjoining his customary messuage called Claypitts on which to build a cart lodge and at the said court the said Jn and Sam Newton his brother were admitted to a tenement and certain lands called by the name of parcel of Seven Acres but it was shown that at a previous court held 13.3.1695 the said Sam had surrendered his half to the said Jn and at a court held 16.10.16== the said Jn was admitted to Bomes alias Bomesfield containing with a messuage and other buildings belonging and at the last court held 30.4. it appeared that the said Jn Newton on 13.12.1716 surrendered by the hands of the deputy steward all his customary messuages lands tenements etc to the use of his last will now at this court it appeared that the said Jn died after the last court upon which came Jn Newton eldest son of the said Jn deceased and showed the last will of the said Jn dated 13.12.1716 the tenor concerning the premises in the following words imprimis I give and devise unto my eldest son Jn Newton and to his heirs forever over and above what I have already given and settled upon him all that messuage or tenement wherein I now dwell with all the houses outhouses barns stables yards gardens orchards lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging commonly called or known by the several names of Claypitts and Sandalls and now in my own occupation item I give more unto my said son Jn Newton and to his heirs forever all that my messuage or tenement with the lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging commonly called or known by the name of Booms now in my own occupation and the occupation of Rosbrooke widow item I give more unto my son Jn Newton and to his heirs forever all those my lands which I lately had and purchased from Jn Bullock commonly called or known by the name of Gosses with all and every of their appurtenances now also in my own occupation item I give more unto the said Jn Newton and his heirs forever all that messuage or tenement wherein Robt Middleton now dwells with the lands thereto belonging containing by estimation 4a more or less item I give more unto the said Jn Newton my son and to his heirs forever one spring or grove now in my own possession and lying near and adjoining to the same lands commonly called Davys Spring item I give more unto the said Jn Newton my son and to his heirs forever all those two crofts of land with a barn and stable thereupon standing containing by estimation 8a more or less commonly called or known by the name of Grants and now in my own occupation item I give more unto the said Jn Newton and to his heirs forever all that my messuage or tenement with the house outhouses and lands thereunto belonging late the lands of Susan Davey and now in the occupation of Jn Cooke or his assigns all which messuages or tenements lands and premises are situate lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid as shown etc and upon this the said Jn Newton was admitted etc and gave fine etc
