at a court held 21.7.1684 Edw Johnson was admitted to all that customary messuage or tenement called Dedmans alias Debenhams and 50a of land situate in Earls Colne which premises after at the same court the said Edw surrendered to his will now at this court it appeared that the said Edw died about the last court upon which came into court Edw Frith eldest son of Josiah Frith and showed the last will of the said Edw dated 2.6.1722 the tenor concerning the premises in the following words imprimis I give and devise unto Edw Frith eldest son of my nephew Josiah Frith and to his heirs forever all that my copyhold messuage or tenement called Dedmans with the lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging containing 50a or thereabouts as the same now are in the occupation of Jn Cooke situate lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid and holden of the manor of Colne Priory on the conditions in the will particularly mentioned and he is admitted on the conditions specified in the will etc and gave fine
