at a court held 9.4.1725 it appeared that on 8.2.1725 Jn Last junior surrendered by the hands of Geo Brooke gentleman instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Pratt and Sam Christmas all that customary messuage or tenement called Muggs and a yard parcel of Thredgolds and the buildings on it situate in Earls Colne and then in the tenure of Sam Shelley or his assigns and also all lands held by the said Jn Last by copy to the use of Jn Last son of the said Jn late of Halstead and now of Earls Colne saymaker and because none came first proclamation was made and at the last general court here held the said Jn did not come therefore second proclamation was made now at this court came the said Jn Last saymaker and was admitted etc and gave fine etc
