whereas at a court held 17.12.1744 Rich Watkinson of Hedingham Sible tanner was admitted in fee on the surrender of Jane Halls to all that customary messuage or tenement called Gurnies in Sible Hedingham and whereas at a court held 10.12.1748 it was found that the said Rich Watkinson out of court surrendered the premises on 18.11.1748 by the hands of Wm Flack instead of the bailiff in the presence of Robt Harris and Sam Christmas to the use of his last will and whereas at a court held 9.8.last it was found that the said Rich Watkinson died since the then last court seised of the premises but because none came therefore proclamation etc and whereas the said Rich Watkinson did in and by his last will bearing date 12.6.1750 devise the said premises in the words following item I give and bequeath my house and tan yard with it appurtenances lying in Hedingham Sible and now in my own occupation and my stock in trade after my debts funeral charges and probate of this my will is fully satisfied and paid unto my son Sam Watkinson and his heirs forever at his age of twenty one years but in case my said son shall depart this life before he attains his age of twenty one years then I give and bequeath the said messuage and premises and stock in trade unto Mary my loving wife and her heirs forever item my will and meaning is that my house and tan yard shall be either let or sold at the discretion of my executor and executrix which shall be most for the advantage of the heirs thereof whereupon came the said Sam Watkinson by Sam Sparrow his attorney and was admitted etc according to the tenor of the said will to hold by the ancient annual rent of 1s11d and he gave fine etc and fealty respited
