28: As I was riving a ledge and forcing in 3 wedges together, the middle with the force of the blow flew out and struck me in the shin yet so did gracious providence dispose, that it scarce broke the skin; it might have proved sad to me; my son was held out of the fire by his little sister , who held and cried until I came to him. Heard of the welfare of my loving friend Mr F. and his family. the Lord be praised: he sent my wife good remembrance of his love, a kind letter and 4 sugar loaves.
