24: At Col: Cookes (,) Paflin cleared in the matter of the widow Ward, he accused Potter about the death of his maid Alice , and children by her, upon which Edward Potter took out a warrant to examine the matter we sat all 25. day about the business and in conclusion the justices had so much against him as to send him to jail, the chamber where he had his mittimus was the room where he was born at mother Abbotts , the Lords finger was in this business; to him be the praise and glory, whatsoever we do we desire to seek and aim at that, and to remove iniquity from us.
