June: 11: the enemy marched on to braintree die: 10: and this day being up and down plundering and taking away. Mr Nicholson 2 miles beyond us upwards to Colchester, our people assembled in arms, we were not able to draw into Church for the keeping the Sabbath, but were deprived of that opportunity: we set good guards in the town, at 8 of the clock that night the enemy advanced from Braintree to Halsted; we heard they intended Colchester, but we knew not for certain this
