Aug. 14: This morning it dewed very comfortably. the earth needs the same. the lord I trust will continue to reserve to us the appointed weeks of harvest. my heart prone one day to vanity. I find any temptation better kept out than thrust out, oh that I could handle every evil thought roughly and inquire whence it is, before I give admission to the same. god good to all mine in our inward enjoyments and outward in which I desire to rejoice and to bless his most holy name. the lord was good to me in the word and work of the Sabbath, he in mercy frame up my heart, more and more to himself.
