Dec: 31: God good to me and mine, I much feared some ill would befall the parliament. this week was wonderfully dull and melancholy weather, the sun shone not, but on monday morning, the 30 a little glimmering one glance or two; this day very dark, this day I pressed holiness, and without it, no seeing of god, the lord pressed it affectionately on my heart, oh let me never forget the same, my heart is not lively for god, I had a very great cold, and pose all this week, I praise god it fell not much into my chest, the lord remember me for good in all things. Mr Clopton paid me. 2li.11s. for books, and I him. 5s. I owed to him, and so we cast our accounts even.
