July. 11. God was good to us in outward mercies, John fared as if he would be ill, and might have the measles. I submit, thy will lord be done, let me not be senseless under thy hand, but let my soul work out its daily dross and corruption; Dr Pullein a hearer with us, I trust the lord will bend my heart more to my studies, and searching into the scriptures in this liberty I shall have, the school being to be taught by another. god was good to me in the word preached this day, the lord affect me with all my deadness, and sloth in the things of god, and awaken my heart for his glory.
