Jan. 24 This week past. some small frost and rain, but no hindrance to work(,) this morning cheerful, much troubled with toothache. my heart desirous to do good this day. praised by god this day we had our first calf. and yesterday 2 sheet lambed 3 lambs. all at present well.

John declared for his disobedience no son; I should allow him nothing except he took himself to be a servant, yet if he would depart and live in service orderly I would allow him 10li. yearly: if he so walked as to become gods son. I should yet own him for mine.
