whereas it appears by a roll of a court held for the said manor on 10.8.1622 that Jn Potter surrendered out of that court all that capital messuage with garden and curtilage adjoining sometime called Sonningwells and also one tenement adjoining called Tabors with all their appurtenances lying in the said Earls Colne to the use of Jn Potter himself for and during the term of his natural life and after his decease then to the use of Jeff Potter his brother and Ann his wife for the term of their lives and to the longer liver upon condition that they pay 20s to Joan Brewer as by a roll of the said court is clearly shown now to this court came the said Jn Potter Jeff Potter and Ann his wife in person and sought admittance to the capital messuage and other said premises according to the tenor and intentions of the surrender and the said conditions to whom at their petition the lord by his said steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have to him the aforesaid Jn Potter for and during the term of his natural life the remainder after his decease to the aforesaid Jeff Potter and Ann his wife for their lifetime and to the longer liver upon the said condition to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord for a fine for their entry as is shown etc and made their separate fealty and were admitted thereunto in the said form tenants of the lord
