whereas at a court held for the said manor 26.5.last it was shown by the homage of that court that Barth Church gentleman late was seised for himself and his heirs among other things of one croft of land with appurtenances called Pondcroft held of the said manor by copy of a court roll lying in the said Colne containing by estimation 4a31p and that he himself being thus seised thereof in the month of .4.1623 committed a crime by killing a man and for the same offence was attainted by being outlawed at the suit of our lord the now king by reason of which same said felony and attainder the said croft of land among others was forfeited to the lord of the said manor as by a roll of court clearly shown by the precept concerning the same said premises the said croft of land among others was seised into the hands of Rich Harlakenden esq lord of the said manor and he himself was legitimately thus seised thereof now at this court by his special grace he granted out of his hands the said croft of land called Pondcroft with appurtenances to Jn Church gentleman natural brother of the aforesaid Barth and his heirs to whom the same said Jn present here in court the lord by his said steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have to himself the aforesaid Jn Church his heirs and assigns forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he made therefore to the lord fine and fealty and was admitted tenant thereof and afterwards at this same court the aforesaid Jn Church surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the aforesaid steward the said croft of land called Pondcroft with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Jn Potter his heirs and assigns forever to whom the same said Jn Potter present here in court the lord by his said steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have to himself and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he made thereof fine and fealty and was admitted thereof tenant etc
