at this court it is witnessed by the said steward and is shown by the homage that Roger Harlakenden gentleman customary tenant of this manor after the last general court and before this court viz 26.6.1635 came before the said steward and in person surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the said steward certain lands and customary tenements with appurtenances called Parkefield and Chewnesland lying in the said Earls Colne to the use and behoof of Edw Clarke of Earls Colne aforesaid yeoman his heirs and assigns forever under such consideration and intention however that the said Edw Clarke his heirs and assigns makes and make such surrenders and legal assurances concerning the premises as regards the type of land thereof and to what sort or a person or persons as Rich Harlakenden esq brother of the said Roger will choose at any time as imposed by any writing or writings signed by the said Rich and likewise under this consideration and intention that the said Edw Clarke his heirs and assigns permit the said Rich Harlakenden to receive and take all and singular the rents and profits resulting until such surrenders and assurances be made whereupon at this court the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin of the said premises to the said Edw Clarke to have to himself and his heirs forever under the said consideration and intention to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed etc
