and furthermore whereas at a court here held 27.6.1632 Wm Harlakenden gentleman and Smythea his wife were admitted tenants of the lord to themselves and the heirs of the said Wm to one messuage and certain lands and customary tenements called Staces and Wastlyns with barns stables and buildings pertaining to the said messuage with appurtenances as is clearly shown by the court roll now to this court come the said Wm Harlakenden and Smythea his wife Smythea herself being solely and secretly examined by the said steward as is the custom and surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the said steward the said messuage and other premises with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Robt Carter of Earls Colne baker his heirs and assigns forever who present in court humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said messuage and other premises with appurtenances to the said Robt Carter and his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty and was admitted tenant thereof
