Brownes and furthermore at this court it was shown by the homage that Jn Abbott who held for himself and his heirs one barn stable and parcel of customary curtilage situated in Earls Colne now in the tenure of Wm Hatch butcher or his assigns according as is shown by the court roll dated 8.4.1629 after the last general court etc viz 14.8.1638 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Edm Turnor instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jas Burton and Hen Cony two customary tenants of the said manor according to the customs of the said manor the said barn stable and parcel of curtilage with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Geo Abbott kinsman of the said Jn Abbott and the heirs and assigns of the said Geo forever and afterwards and before this court he died whereupon came here into court the said Geo Abbott and humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said barn and other premises with appurtenances to the said Geo Abbott his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty
