and furthermore whereas at a court here held 3.1.1637 Wm Potter was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one customary tenement called The Stable and the Cowhouse and to one customary tenement built with a garden parcel of a tenement late Thos Prince with a way late parcel of Beercrofte leading towards the said Beercroft with free entrance and exit to drive animals and to carry as is shown by the said court roll now at this court it is shown by the homage that the said Wm Potter after the last court viz 11.11.1643 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Thos Rennett instead of the bailiff in the presence of Thos Prior and Wm Adams two customary tenants of the said manor the aforesaid premises among others by name all those customary messuages lands and tenements yards and gardens with appurtenances of the said Wm then in the tenure of Jas Nicolls and Jn Polley or their assigns lying in Earls Colne and held of the said manor by copy of court roll to the use and behoof of Jas Potter his son his heirs and assigns forever and afterwards and before this court he died upon which came here into court the said Jas Potter and humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said tenement and other premises with appurtenances to the said Jas Potter his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty
