to this court came Jas Nichols customary tenant of the said manor and surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his said steward one messuage with garden of the said messuage or tenement pertaining with appurtenances called Cloviers to the use and behoof of the said Jas Nichols and Edith his wife and the heirs and assigns of the said Jas Nichols forever which premises the said Jas took for himself and his heirs at a court here held 8.1.1645 who present in court humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said messuage or tenement and other premises with appurtenances to the said Jas Nichols and Edith and the heirs of the said Jas forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their fine and afterwards in that same court and the court sitting came the said Jas Nichols and surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the said steward the said messuage or tenement and other premises with appurtenances to the use and intention of his last will
