whereas at a court here held 28.12.1640 Eliz Allen now wife of Jn Stephens junior was admitted tenant for herself and her heirs to one parcel of the lord's waste of this manor with a cottage thereon built containing in length about 28rod and in breadth to one head 10rod and to the other head 9rod and half of land with appurtenances as is shown by the said court roll now to this court comes the said Jn and Eliz his wife and Eliz herself solely and secretly examined by the said steward as is the custom and agreed to surrender into the hands of the lord by the hands of the said steward the said parcel of waste with cottage built with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Jn Stephens senior and his heirs who present in court humbly sought admittance to the premises to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said parcel of land and cottage with appurtenances to the said Jn Stephens senior his heirs and assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he paid his fine and made fealty
