whereas at a court here held 4.4.1632 Robt Seawell was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to certain customary lands called Bridgmans one head thereof abutting upon the lands called Stonely and Newmans towards the east and the other head abutting upon the lands called Swannells towards the south and the other head abutting upon the king's highway leading from Earls Colne to Colne Engaine towards the west and the other head abutting upon the great river towards the north containing about 13a as is shown by the said court roll now at this court it is shown by the homage that the said Robt Seawell after the last general court viz 17.4.1648 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Thos Leffingwell instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Ambrose Waller and Jn Reade two customary tenants of the said manor testifying the said lands with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Jn Savill of Colne Engaine gentleman his heirs and assigns who present in court humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said land with appurtenances to the said Jn Savill his heirs and assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right etc and he paid his fine and made fealty
