whereas at a court held for the said manor 16.1.1655 Jn Stephens was admitted tenant to him and his heirs to one customary messuage or tenement and yard with the appurtenances called Pannells and whereas at a court held for the said manor 3.11.1657 it was presented by the homage that sitting the said court the said Jn did surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of Giles Crow the lord's bailiff and in the presence of Wm Adams and Jn Clerke two customary tenants of the said manor the same witnessing etc the said messuage or tenement and yard with the appurtenances wherein the said Jn Stephens did then dwell to the use of his last will and testament now at this court it was presented by the homage that the said Jn Stephens afterwards and before this court died so seised and thereupon at this court came Edw Stephens son of the said Jn Stephens deceased and showed forth in court the last will and testament of the said Jn Stephens bearing date 4.11.1657 the tenor whereof concerning the premises is in these words I give and bequeath to Edw Stephens my youngest son and to his heirs and assigns forever all that my copyhold messuage or tenement with the houses buildings yards gardens and appurtenances to the same belonging upon condition that the said Edw his heirs or assigns pay out of the rents and profits thereof to Jn Stephens the elder my father 5li of lawful English money etc and thereupon the said Edw Stephens the son desired to be admitted tenant of the said to whom the lord of the said manor by the said steward hath granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said tenement with the appurtenances to the said Edw Stephens his heirs and assigns forever of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services due etc and he gave to the lord for his fine etc
