to this court came Mary Pake spinster customary tenant of the said manor and by the rod surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his said steward one cottage lately built and one parcel of land lying next to the cemetery of the parish church of Earls Colne abutting upon the yard late of Wm Bridge and now of Rich Hatch junior with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Jn Scott carpenter and Mary his wife and the heirs and assigns of the said Jn Scott forever upon which came here into court the said Jn Scott and Mary his wife and sought admittance for themselves as tenants of the lord to the premises to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have and to hold the said cottage and parcel of land with appurtenances to the said Jn Scott and Mary his wife and the heirs and assigns of the said Jn Scott forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their fine and the said Jn made fealty
