at this court it was shown by the homage upon the oath of Mich Hayward and Giles Crow present in court that Margt Stephens (Magdalen Stephens ) customary tenant of the said manor after the last general court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the said Mich instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Wm Adams senior and the aforesaid Giles Crow two customary tenants of the said manor etc one tenement or cottage called Braies with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Jn Hayward of Colchester carpenter his heirs and assigns forever which premises the said Margt (Magdalen Stephens ) took for herself and her heirs at a court here held 19.10.1659 upon which came into court the said Jn Hayward by the said Mich Hayward in the part of his attorney and deputy and sought admittance for himself as tenant of the lord for the premises to whom the same said Jn Hayward by the hands of his said attorney and deputy the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have and to hold the said tenement with appurtenances to the said Jn Hayward his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine but his fealty was respited
