whereas at a court here held 4.1.1659 Wm Harlakenden esq was admitted to him and his heirs to two closes or parcels of customary land called Bearecrofts containing by estimation 4a3r and also to another parcel of land parcel of Bearcrofts containing by estimation 1a more or less now at this court it appeared to the homage and on the oath of the steward that the said Wm Harlakenden on 10.10.25Chas2 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the steward all that croft or parcel of land with appurtenances called Bearcroft containing by estimation 4a more or less abutting on the lands of Edw Potter against the west and upon another close called Bearecroft against the east and upon lands of Robt Harris and Wm Adams against the north and on a way called Back Lane against the south to the use of Margt Richardson widow her heirs and assigns forever upon condition following that if the said Wm Harlakenden his heirs executors of assigns pay or cause to be paid to the said Margt her executors administrators or assigns 53li of legal money upon 22.10.1674 then the surrender would be void and also at this court it appeared to the homage and on the oath of the steward that the said Wm Harlakenden 29.10.25Chas2 surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of the steward all that parcel of customary land or pasture parcel of the land called Bearecroft containing by estimation 4a more or less situate in Earls Colne abutting on the way aforesaid on the south and upon the orchard of Dorcas London against the north and upon another close called Bearecroft against the west and upon other lands of the said Wm against the south to the use of the said Margt Richardson her heirs and assigns on the condition that if the said Wm his heirs executors administrators of assigns pay or cause to be paid to the said Margt her executors or assigns the sum of 53li on 30.10.1674 then the surrender would be void now at this court came the said Margt Richardson and gave the court information that the said several sums of 53li were not paid according to the form and effect of the several conditions aforesaid and the sums remain unpaid to this time and upon this the said Margt humbly petitioned admittance of the lord to all and singular the premises etc to whom the steward delivered seisin thereof to have and to hold the said close of parcel of Bearecroft with the other premises to the said Margt Richardson her heirs and assigns of the lord etc and she gave the lord for fine etc
