at a special court here held 31.5.1714 Eliz Smith widow was admitted to her and heirs to one piece or parcel land called Little Bridgemans with appurtenances and also to various customary lands and tenements called Hobstevens containing by estimation 24a more or less and also to other customary lands called Pitchards containing by estimation 18a more or less and also to all other customary lands and hereditaments then late Jn Josselin deceased except lands and tenements to which Jane Josselin widow was admitted for life and after her admission the said Eliz Smith at that court surrendered all and singular her customary lands and tenements held of the manor to uses of her last will now to this court appears to homage that Eliz Smith after last court died seised and after comes into court Gilb Smith younger son of Eliz and produces in court last will of Eliz Smith dated 23.11.1714 in following english words item I give and devise all that my copyhold messuage farm and lands and tenements thereunto belonging with their and every of their appurtenances situate lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid and now in the occupation of Anne Raven widow or her assigns and holden of the several manors of Earls Colne and Colne Priory lately purchased from my late brother Jn Josselin deceased to be sold by my executor hereinafter named with all convenient speed after my decease and I do hereby authorise and empower my said executor to sell the same and lastly I do nominate and appoint my said son Gilb Smith sole executor of this my last will and testament as by last will plainly appears and thereupon the said Gilb Smith present here in court humbly petitions etc admitted to premises etc under condition and surety in said last will expressed and according to true intention of the last will giving lord fine etc
