at this court it appears to homage that Jn Newton a customary tenant of this manor 23.3.last past surrendered by rod into hands of lord by hand of Solomon Grimston gentleman deputy steward for Jn Wale esq head steward etc all those three parcels land containing 9a more or less called Bettsland with barn and stables built thereon and also messuage with yard garden and barn to it belonging and two parcels land and one grove called Betsland Wood or otherwise with all their appurtenances to separate uses in that surrender mentioned viz to use of himself Jn Newton and his heirs until the marriage provisionally arranged and then to be solemnised between said Jn Newton and Hannah Bridge spinster and after solemnisation thereof to use of said Jn for his life and after his death to use of Hannah for her life and after her death to use of heirs of body of Hannah and Jn legally procreated and for defect of such heirs to use of right heirs of Jn Newton forever after which to this court comes Jn Newton in his own person said Hannah his wife by said Jn in role of attorney and humbly petition etc admitted to premises etc giving lords fine
