at a court held 4.6.1717 Edw Cressener gentleman was admitted to him and heirs to part of a tenement called Cocks lying in Holtstreet with yard and garden to that part late in the tenure of Wm Bateman and now Jos Brooks which premises the said Edw surrendered by the rod according to custom of the manor to use of his last will as enrolled at court held 11.4.1721 now at this court it appears to homage that Edw Cressener after last court died seised and after which comes into court Eliz Clifford widow by Thos Sewell gentleman in part of attorney or deputy and produces here in court last will of Edw Cressener dated .4.1722 the tenor of which is in following english words to wit I give unto my daughter Eliz Clifford and her heirs forever all those my lands tenements and estate both freehold as copyhold whether in possession or reversion lying and being in the parish of Earls Colne in the county of Essex except what I have hereinafter disposed of as by last will plainly appears thereupon Eliz Clifford humbly petitions etc admitted to premises to wit to that part of the tenement called Cocks with yard and garden to that part in tenure of Jos Brookes fealty respited
