at a court held 8.4.1712 Edw Cressener gentleman was admitted to him and heirs to one barn and 30a land more or less lying in seven crofts called Mitchells in Earls Colne then in tenure of Math Newman and now Jn Scott which premises Edw Cressener surrendered by rod according to custom of manor to use of his last will as enrolled at court held 11.4.1721 now at this court appears to homage that said Edw Cressener after last court died seised and after which comes into court Eliz Clifford spinster by Thos Sewell gentleman her attorney and produces in court last will of Edw dated .4.1722 tenor of which in following english words I give to my granddaughter Eliz Clifford and her heirs all that my farm called Mitchells in the possession of Jn Scott situate in Earls Colne as by last will plainly appears thereupon said Eliz Clifford petitions etc admitted to premises etc fealty respited
