at this court it was found by homage that 22.6.last Jn Bailey a customary tenant of manor out of court surrendered by rod into hand of lord by hand of Solomon Grimston gentleman deputy steward of manor etc all that copyhold tenement and garden called Charles Paines and one shop called Le Forge situate next the churchyard of Earls Colne with appurtenances to use of Robt Pennock of Earls Colne husbandman his heirs and assigns forever and because no one came to take admittance therefore proclamation was made and first default is recorded
