also homage find that on 29.7.1740 Jn Simson and Mary his wife late Mary Frith spinster customary tenants surrendered by rod into hand of lord by hand of steward she Mary being first solely and privately examined by steward and consenting according to custom of manor all their then tenancies of land more or less called Lowfields formerly divided into three fields with a messuage or tenement and barn thereon built with appurtenances in tenure Thos King or assigns to use of Geo Wall of Earls Colne saymaker his heirs and assigns redeemable on the payment of 200li with leg al interest on 29.1.next according to a proviso in one indenture quadripartite purporting an assignment of a mortgage bearing even date with surrender and made between Jn Simson and Mary his wife of the first part Jn Wale elder of Saffron Walden in Essex of second part the rev Thos Bernard minister of the parish church of Earls Colne Jn Newton and Jn Hatch churchwardens Thos Sewell and Oliver Johnson gentleman overseers of the poor for parish of Earls Colne of the third part and said Geo Wall of the fourth part the said indenture and this surrender being for security for one and the same sum of money
