Earls Colne inquisition Simon Hamund Jn Payn corn loader heriot Thos Morden should have a deed of the lord earl that there is no payment of heriot Wm Blak Jn Mille inquisition whereas at a court with view here held on the tuesday in pentecost week 2.6.23Edw3 came Olive daughter of the said Jn Draper and Wm son of Jn Plomer and sought one messuage with a curtilage adjoining as their inheritance after the death of Wm Draper who's heir they were and they say that because it was not made clear at court whether they should be the next heirs nor whether the same said Olive and Wm gave to the lord for a fine at their entry as his right etc and upon this and inquisition thereof was charged they say upon their oath that the aforesaid Olive and Wm were the next heirs of the said Wm Draper and were admitted tenants thereof etc and they gave to the lord for a relief 14d etc item inquisition(inserted) it was shown by an inquisition that Alex Habraham held from the lord 2a of free land by the service of 12d per annum and they said that Jn his son is next heir and was admitted thereof tenant and gave to the lord for a relief 12d etc item Peter Turnor held from the lord on the day that he died one messuage with garden by services etc after whose death it was seised into the hands of the lord etc and upon this came Jn Clerk now Simon Hamund (inserted) and took from the lord the aforesaid messuage with garden for his lifetime returning thereof annually to the lord 6d according to ancient returns item it was presented that Hen Stepvene now Payn (inserted) held from the lord etc one messuage with garden and 1a2r of land by the services etc after whose death came Wm Stepven his brother and next heir of the said Hen to claim the said tenement etc to whom it was granted and seisin to him to hold to him and his heirs etc item it was presented that Robt Copyn now Thos Mordon (inserted) held from the lord etc one messuage and 23a of free land by the service of 12s9d after whose death there was heriot of one horse valued at 6s8d and upon this came Roger Copyn brother of the said Robt and claimed the said tenement as his right and inheritance and he was admitted thereof tenant and gave a relief of 12s9d etc item it was presented that Matilda Gosse Wm Blak (inserted) held etc one messuage and 10a of land by the service of 4s per annum after whose death came Jn son and heir of the said Matilda and claimed the said tenement as his inheritance and he was admitted thereof tenant and gave to the lord as a relief 4s8d etc item Robt Copyn illegible text(inserted) surrendered into the hands of the lord one cottage with garden and 2a of customary land to the use of Roger Copyn his brother and his heir to whom etc to hold to him his heirs by the services and customs etc item it was shown by an inquisition that Jn Donewych now Mille (inserted) held from the lord etc one messuage and 8a of land after whose death came Roger Copyn and claimed to hold part of the said tenement for his lifetime as of right of Joan his wife and similarly came Peter Trot and claimed part of the said tenement to hold for his lifetime according to the custom etc as of the right of Julia lately his wife and also came Alice daughter and an heir of the said Jn Donewych and claimed similarly her part of the said tenement and because this was shown seisin was granted to them and they gave to the lord for a relief 3s etc item inquisition(inserted) it was presented to seize into the hands of the lord one croft of enclosed land lying next to the lands of Andrew Gosse after the death of Jn son of Jn Draper etc item it was presented to seize etc inquisition(inserted) into the hands of the lord one cottage and one marsh after the death of Joan Whychurche etc item it was presented to seize into the hands of the lord etc and to return to the lord of the profits etc
