Earls Colne Wm Blake inquisition heriot Jn Mason Jn Payn cornloader whereas at a court with view here hold on the tuesday in pentecost week 11.6.49Edw3 Roger Copyn and Jn Gosse now Wm Blake (inserted) came into court and showed a certain deed of enfeofment made in the form of the statute by which they bought from Robt Ockele and Xian his wife one piece of arable land and another piece of land lying at Hauseylane called Holderyscroft and one piece of aldergrove inquisition(inserted) to hold to themselves and their heirs and they were accepted tenants etc item inquisition(inserted) Jn Gosse out of court surrendered into the hands of Robt Wynter and others 1a of enclosed land called Coronescroft to the use of Rich Cook and his heirs by the services and customs etc item whereas divers days were given to the whole homage until this court to say whether one cow valued at 10s owed for heriot after the death of Roger Joldayn Jn Mason (inserted) because the aforesaid Roger in his lifetime alienated his tenement to divers others now at this court they said that the aforesaid heriot according to the custom of the manor ought to accrue by right to the lady therefore it was presented to seize the said heriot and to return to the lady etc item Hen Payn and Alice his wife now Jn Payn corn loader(inserted) solely examined surrendered into the hands of the lady one messuage with garden adjoining 1a of illegible text land adjoining and with another croft of land containing 1a2r sometime of Wm Stepvene and the lady regranted the aforesaid messuage and lands with appurtenances to the aforesaid Hen and Alice and their heirs by the services and customs etc
