prior of Colne mercy 100s amerced whereas at a court with view here held on the tuesday in pentecost week 5.6.4Hen4 it was presented by the oath of Robt Segge and others who said that Hen Kebyl prior of the said priory of Earls Colne blocked up a certain common way called Holstret leading from opposite the gateway of the aforesaid priory as far as the church porch of the village of Colne and with wickets posts and iron fastenings surroundered where the aforesaid way called Holstret was and is from a time which is outside memory against the lord king's highway and all carrying there to the annoyance and grave damage of the lady Matilda de Veer countess and lady of this demesne therefore he himself in mercy and it was presented to remedy and take down the enclosure and gateway there upon pain which he incurred against the next etc and it was affeered by Thos Smyth and Jn Atte Chambre who swore etc whereof he was amerced
