whereas at a court here held on the monday 6.3.37Edw3 Jn Atte Noke gave to the lord for a fine so that he should be able to release all his right to a certain Wm Gosse of one messuage and 1a2r of free land in the village of Halsted which ought to descend to him after the death of his mother which lately Thos Alot held as stated after the death of Jn Gosse by right and inheritance of the wife of the said Thos descended after the decease of the said Jn Gosse father of the wife of the said Thos therefore it was presented to the bailiff to distrain the said Thos to show by what right he entered into the lord's fee and to grant to the lord the services and customs of the same said messuage and lands pertaining and to make to the lord fealty etc
