fine 2s condition | Ellen Dyne late wife of Thos in her pure widowhood present in court examined by the steward surrendered into the hands of the lord one messuage with garden adjoining called Segg with appurtenances late of Wm Boome senior in the presence of Wm Speery bailiff and other tenants the same testifying lying in length next to the high street leading from Earls Colne towards Colchester called Aubary St one head abutting upon the Lowfield gate and the other upon a tenement of Thos Clerk otherwise Bakere to the use of Thos Heyward and Xian his wife and Jn Stones of London skinner and Wm Garthener their heirs and assigns to whom there was seisin delivered by the steward to hold to them and the heirs of Thos and Xian themselves by the rod at the will of the lord by the ancient services owed and customs according to the custom of the manor etc saving the rights of each of them etc and they gave to the lord for fine for having their entry and made fealty to the lord etc upon this condition however that the aforesaid Thos Heywarde his heirs or attorney should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Ellen annually during her lifetime 6s8d at the two annual terms viz at easter and michaelmas in equal portions whereof the same said Ellen recognises herself to have at this court in part the payment of the said sum for this next following year 20d and further the aforesaid Ellen should have one lower room in the said messuage next to the Lowfeld gate and also the whole of her easements in the aforesaid garden for the term of her life |
