fine 2s Jn Wright and Joan his wife and she being examined alone surrendered to the lord one cottage with a garden to the same belonging customary called Wellemans lying at Colneford Hill to the use of Thos Stell Letice his wife Wm Bawme and Wm Gardiner to whom the lord granted seisin to hold to them their heirs and assigns by the rod to the will of the lord by the ancient services and customs according to the custom of the manor saving the right etc yet on this condition viz that the said Thos Stell Letice his wife Wm Bawme and Wm Gardiner pay or cause to be paid to Jn Wright and Joan his wife or their attorney 9li9s at the feast of all saints next before (sic) the date of this court 10s6d at the feast of the nativity of st john baptist then next following after the date of this court 10s6d and at the feast of michaelmas next following 10s6d and at the feast of st john baptist then next following 10s6d and so yearly at the feast of st john baptist 10s6d and at michaelmas 10s6d until the sum of 9li9s be paid and if the said Thos Stell or his attorneys make default in any payment aforesaid within fifteen days after the feast in part or in whole that from thenceforth it shall be lawful to the said Jn Wright and Joan his wife with the licence of the lord or his steward to reenter the said tenement and in the old estate to hold and enjoy without contradiction of any man except always that if it be to the will of the lord and furthermore the said Jn Wright and Joan his wife shall have there for all their lives one chamber over towards the east end and their easements in the hall until the said Thos shall cause to be made there one chamber or competent house for the foresaid Jn Wright and Joan his wife to dwell and abide in and the same Jn Wright an d Joan his wife by the licence of the said Thos shall have some part of the fruit and herbage of the garden if it shall please them to plant and the said Thos Letice his wife Wm Bawne and Wm Gardiner shall have all and singular the appurtenances to the said tenement belonging viz nailefast and rotefast and one great table upon a bench there standing and one malt quern with all appurtenances to whom there is seisin thereof delivered by the rod to the will of the lord by the ancient services and customs according to the custom of the manor saving the right etc and they give the lord for fine as appears in the head and made fealty
