fine 12d (damaged) and in the same said instant court came Jn William and Robt Smyth and surrendered into the hands of the lord cottage with garden and appurtenances sometime Boville's and after Ralph Noke's to the use of Wm Kene Margt his wife Jn Kene and Wm Kene and their heirs to whom the lord by the steward granted thereof seisin to hold to the same said Wm Margt Jn and Wm their heirs and assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord and according to the custom of the manor by the ancient services and customs and upon the condition that the aforesaid Wm Kene shown pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Jn William 9marks sterling in the nine years next following viz at each of the feasts of pentecost after the date of this court 13s4d or within fifteen days then next following and that if the said 9marks in the said years at the aforesaid feasts should by paid that then this surrender should stand in full effect etc and if there be default in any year at any term or by the fixed day for payment in part or in whole that then it should be allowed to the aforesaid Jn William and his assigns to reenter into the aforesaid cottage with appurtenances and to rehold them by licence of the court thereof obtained the surrender th ereof first made notwithstanding and they gave to the lord for a fine as shown in the margin and made fealty to the lord etc
