Gosses the Reve | fine 4d whereas at the court with the leet here holden on tuesday in the week of pentecost in the 21Hen7 2.6.1506 there came Jn Sparrowe and Agnes his wife and the same Agnes alone and secretly examined by the lord's steward according to the custom of the manor and surrendered into the lord's hands certain lands and tenements customary with the appurtenances called Gosses the Reve to the use and behoof of Jn Clerk his heirs and assigns yet on this condition viz that the foresaid Jn Clerk his heirs or assigns should are (sic) or cause to be ared (sic) well and sufficiently 110a of the land of the foresaid Jn Sparrow whensoever he should in due manner be required thereunto to which Jn Clerk there was then seisin thereof delivered by the rod to hold to him and his heirs and assigns to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor doing etc and on form and condition aforesaid etc on pain of reentry upon the premises for default of aring of the land aforesaid in form aforesaid as in the roll of that court more full appeareth now unto this court came the foresaid Jn Sparrow and Agnes his wife in their proper persons in the full court before the lord's steward affirming themselves not satisfied of the performance of the condition aforesaid and therefore crave licence of the lord to reenter upon the premises and the same to have again and enjoy according to the effect of the condition in the surrender aforesaid specified and hereupon the foresaid Jn Clerke his heirs and assigns were solemnly exacted and there came one Alice Clerke widow late wife of the foresaid Jn Clerke deceased as parent and guardian of Wm Clerke son and heir of the foresaid Jn Clerke deceased being under age and being examined in the court concerning the premises saith that she cannot deny the request of the foresaid Jn Sparrowe and Agnes his wife but plainly and openly confesseth it by reason whereof it is considered by the court that the said Jn Sparrow and Agnes his wife shall reenter on the premises and the same shall have again and enjoy to them and their heirs and assigns as in their former estate to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor according to the effect of the condition aforesaid doing and yielding etc and they give fine and made fealty |
