Halleberne | fine 2s it is found by the homage that Sibill Payne widow late the wife of Chas Paine deceased which held jointly with the foresaid Chas to them and their heirs according to the custom of the manor one cottage with a garden adjoining customary with the appurtenances called Halberne situate and lying in Colne aforesaid near the parish churchyard there the said Sibill died since the last court sole seised in her demesne as of fee according to the custom of the manor and they further say that Elias Paine is the son and next heir of the said Sibill and of full age according to the custom of the manor who being present in the court came and craved himself to be admitted and because it is so found by the homage therefore he is admitted the lord's tenant to whom by the lord's steward there is seisin thereof delivered to hold to him and his heirs of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor etc and he giveth fine etc and made fealty |
